Another Year, Another Opportunity to Change

Well, here it is 2012, and once again it is time for the New Year's Resolutions.

As you can guess, my first one is going to be to blog again! I had really been feeling distant from the whole political scene during the past year or so, and it was hard to get up any enthusiasm for writing about much of anything. Even with the heating up of the Republican race, it was hard to get interested in the competition when the competitors were so totally lame and none were really pulling ahead. Now it seems to be coming down to Romney, with Newt Gingrich and even Ron Paul still surprisingly strong. But in the end I think it will be Romney. We will see what happens after the first few contests, starting with Iowa this week. Once the competitor is identified it will be a lot easier to analyze the differences between the Republican contender and President Obama, and writing about them will be much more interesting!

Of course, I also have the usual resolutions to lose weight, exercise, eat at home more, and so on. But let's face it, those are boring, since I make them every year and usually don't stick with them. But I'll give it a try anyway.

I also need to resolve to earn some money - unemployment is running out in February and I need to be more diligent about getting freelance proofreading jobs; or even finding myself a real job. (Hopefully part time!)

Baxter also has a resolution. Here it is:

"I want to tame the New Dog, Angel, who still tries to chase Me if she gets upstairs past the Gate at the top of the Steps. My Humans have brought Angel upstairs on her Leash a few times and managed to get her to stop barking and sit while looking at Me while I make Scary Siren Noises and Loud Hissing to keep her in her Place. Over time I hope this will Subdue Her and maybe I will be able to come back downstairs and join the Family again. I like Sleeping on the Bed at Night but it's not the Same as having Full Run of the House."

So that's it for now, but I will be back again tomorrow and actually write something worthwhile.

In the meantime, Happy 2012 to all my blogging friends and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!

Happy New Year to you Mimi!

I know what you mean about getting back to blogging...It's been a tough yr for me but I hope to have my Mo Jo back this new yr! The GOP nominee will make a big difference as you say, I'm looking forward to the campaign and the Obama tsunami!

Have a great year!

The Rushpubliscum nominee, whoever he is, can expect a lot of loving attention from me. For as angry as the President makes me at times, between his re-election and the election of any known Rushpubliscum candidate, there is no question which is preferable.

As far as cats.... Sheba runs this house with iron discipline, and I generally don't interfere. She has the cats well-schooled as to what they are and are not permitted to do.

MISSED YOU. PARDON MY 1 HANDED ALL CAPS TYPING, JUST HAD CARPAL TUNNEL SURGERY.
ANYWAY, WHOOSH! THERE WENT ANOTHER YEAR.
I HATE ELECTION YEARS. SO MUCH HOT AIR, LATER TURNS OUT TO BE JUST THAT. BS WE WANT TO HEAR SO AS TO ELECT CANDIDATE A OR B.
THERE ARE OCCASIONAL LAUGHS WATCHING THE GOP SELF IMPLODE, BUT MUCH OF THE CHATTER DOES NOT MATTER. WE'VE BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK ENOUGH TIMES TO KNOW WHERE THEY ARE HEADED & WHAT THE DOUBLESPEAK MEANS- YES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE. MUCH OF IT IS HIGHLY DISENCHANTING, FOR ME. YET I'M TRYING TO KEEP POSITIVE. I'M PRETTY SURE IT WILL MEAN HOLDING MY NOSE & VOTING AGAINST THE CANDIDATE WHO I THINK WOULD DO THE MOST HARM.

There's a damn good comedy going on in Iowa, if you don't mind the smell of jesus freaks, idiots & Iowa voters - but I just repeated myself.:)

I caught your title/ heading on Average American Patriot site. As far as "change" is concerend ... as long as we keep voting for the same ole same over and over, and not making term limit's for this bunch and their career's, keep ignoring the million's funneled into our political rep's through special corporate interest's. Even our President went in with alot of great idea's (I followed him before he was even the nominee) he was truely bipartisan, dealt with so many grave issue's, and they do nothing but buck him left and right, and oppose damn near eery proposal he has ... so even our President cant act in balance with this unbalanced polarized political bunch, sad, but true.

I never made a resolution in my life actually, I reckon it worx for some, but whenever I do set to do something though, I actually do it, I been on a strict diet I started back in 2011, and had no problemo sticking to it, there are so many great health and farm fresh food's out there as well, excercise get's like anything else to be 2nd nature after a few week's of it, etc ...

Ya'll have a decent New Year ....

Happy New Year to you too.

Glad to see your post on my blog.

I hear you about feeling distant from the entire political thing.

It isn't as exciting as it was a few years ago. I suspect, as the General Election nears, there will be more energy.

I must say, we are getting it hard here in Iowa but thankfully, another day and it will be done. This circus is about to leave town. So glad you are recommitting to blogging! We sure did miss ya. And we missed Baxter too. I suspect the best way to resolve the dog-cat issue, is to give the cat a means to escape, and let them work it out. One of our cats stayed in a tree for several hours, but all is fine these last 10 years now. lol...

Happy New Year to you too, and I predict the winner on Tuesday will be Michigan over Virginia Tech! ;-)

Happy New Year to you also.
On the Republican primary--oh, god, am I sick of it. I can't stand all those mental/moral midgets running for the office of President. The amount of ego spilling out is breath-taking.
