Haiku Tuesday

I just spent about an hour trying to find a suitable cartoon or other illustration of how totally dreary the weather is today. However, I couldn't decide on any one thing and finally gave up. It was fun trying though.

In the meantime I'll provide a few February-themed haiku to tide myself over till the next time I actually get up enough energy to write something.

Freezing rain today
Drizzling on the grayish snow
February's here.

Huge mounds of old snow
Obscure everyone's driveways
Driving is risky.

Snow looks so pretty
Right after the snowfall ends
Then it gets dirty.

I'm tired of winter
Spring is still so far away
Days are creeping by.

Sooner or later
Even this much snow will melt
Hard to imagine.

People in Egypt
Having a revolution
Too cold for that here.

Mimi, you're really quite talented. I enjoyed those. Don't freeze.

Thanks, TC! ;-) If only spring would come! This weather is getting really old!

I miss snow. I doubt if I would say that if I were back in the part of the world where it really snows, but living comfortably in South Georgia gives me some liberties, although it is raining.

The weeks between New Years and mid-March are my least favorite time of year. Your description is dead accurate. It's a period I just endure.

Spring in my region is always a tentative, one step forward, two steps back affair, with chilly weather typically hanging on tenaciously into June, although there can be a warm spell here and there along the way.

I think of it as great advertising for places like Florida and Hawaii. :)

I spoke w a New Yawker on the phone the other day who said in her best Bronx accent (think Fran Drescher) "Enough with the damned snow already"

You folks on the East coast have been whalloped.

Stay warm & hope things thaw out soon.

Thanks everyone. Now the weather is warmer and instead of snow and sleet we're getting melting. And yet there's still so much snow already on the ground it is just turning into sodden piles of grayish ice. Ugh.

In Ireland early February is considered to be the beginning of Spring. May you soon see flowers.

Very well done series of Haiku there. Not that I needed to be reminded of what is going on outside.

Keep your chin up. The frost heaves are in place here in Maine. Mud Season is just around the corner.
