Defenders of Wildlife to Air Ad Against Palin

A friend sent me a link to this site: Grizzly Bay, which has a whole page entitled "The Truth About Sarah Palin," which is where the link will take you.

The site also links to the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, where you can donate to help get the following ad on air, exposing the barbaric practices Governor Palin endorses in Alaska.

If you want to help Defenders of Wildlife get this ad on the air, you can donate to the cause and/or forward the following note to anyone you think would be interested in donating:

Have you ever heard of aerial wolf hunting? It's a brutal practice. Wolves are shot from low-flying aircraft or chased to exhaustion, then shot and killed at point-blank range.

Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for Vice President, promotes this barbaric practice, exploiting a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act to allow private wolf killers to shoot down wolves using aircraft. We have to get the word out about this!

Please watch this powerful video by Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, and then share it with every wildlife lover and conservationist you know:

Here is the video embedded for your convenience. Please note, it is graphic and upsetting so don't show it to children or watch it if you think you will be upset. I know I was. We cannot have this woman a heartbeat away from the Presidency. We just can't.

Thanks for publicizing this. I'm going to take a pass on the clip though. The very idea sickens me. I don't need to see it.

As much as I understand that Alaska is a true frontier, in no way should this kind of hunting practice be condoned. Hunting for sport is a concept that I cannot grasp. Hunting for food...existence...is another matter.

This is horrible. I never realised that such a barbaric thing went on.
Hope you are well and thanks for dropping by and your good wishes for Uni.

Thanks so much Maui for doing this post. Everybody seems to be coming out against this woman and I'm happy to see it. She is horrid, and I can not support enough those who oppose such barbaric methods. Hunting is one thing, but this is beyond the pale.

She's a real piece of work.

Another reason why I support the Right to Arm Bears...and wolves.

The ultimate power trip.
Just practicing up for "finger on the button."

Thanks for posting about this. I can't understand why every animal-rights group isn't up in arms and raising millions of dollars to defeat that bitch. (Or maybe they are.) I'm glad Defenders of Wildlife is doing this. I hope PETA and other similar groups are getting more active too.

I thought of doing a post about different "hunting" groups that Palin supports. But my wife would read it and she'd get even more pissed off than she already is; she hates Palin more than I do.

I'd heard about this, but I didn't know Palin's role in it (who even knew she existed before all this mess?!). Man, I really hate her.

I nearly threw up when I read this.

As someone who is vehemently opposed to all forms of hunting, the crazy notion of aerial wolf hunting is one I had never heard of before.

These people should be rounded up and charged with animal cruelty and tossed in jail.

Ruth, I don't blame you - I could only watch it once myself and that was very disturbing. I hope if they get it on air it will be disturbing to a lot of people and turn them off to Palin.

Deb, I agree completely. I hate hunting in general but am able to condone it for food purposes in certain rare cases. But this is just heinous.

Ruth, hi! Sorry you came by when I had such a downer of a post up! Hugs to you too, will be visiting again to your place!

Feather, I hope everyone who realizes what Sarah Palin stands for will stop their love affair with the "idea" of her and realize who she really is.

Randal - you said it.

Dave, yes, arm bears, wolves, and any other poor unfortunate creature Sarah Palin might come in contact with.

Border Explorer, interesting point, you are right. It is a power trip.

Tom, I hope so too - the ASPCA, the Humane Society of the United States, all of them should be working against her.

DGuzman, I know - everything I learn about her makes me hate her more.

Christopher, I am with you completely. I've never understood why anyone would consider hunting down innocent animals for sport to be an acceptable civilized practice. It is just horrific. And this is one of the worst examples of it I've seen. Yes, why don't they get charged with animal cruelty? Good point. Maybe someone should start a lawsuit.

My hub tried to get me to watch this a few days ago. I just can't. He described a bit & that was enough for me! It's not hunting -- it's wholesale slaughter from the air.

I do have a question about hunting wolves. They & Grizzlies are the natural predators of large game. Why hunt them? They are doing nature's job of keeping the large grazing population down to manageable size, so they don't suffer from starvation & malnutrition or damage the ecoinfrastructure by overgrazing. Plus they mainly cull the weak & old & sick, thus making the surviving gene pool stronger. So why hunt these predators? I can only think those of the Palin-ilk want to keep those large grazers (caribou, elk, etc) to themselves. They want there to be unsustainable excess numbers so they can hunt them to their evil heart's intent.

I saw a photo on another blog of Palin laying on a couch covered with a big grizzly bear rug. If that didn't bring out the PETA people, I don't know what would.

What kind of person thinks this way and how can we consider them to help run this country.

I wonder if she's elected if she'll be using Air Force One for her hunting expeditions.

Seems wildlife is not the only thing this woman will hunt. She will hunt out people in her way. Reading some of the things that have went on in Alaska makes it sound mostly like the US government needed to be monitoring the governers a little closer. Was her husband really part of a succession party?

Happy birthday. I think I missed it in your time zone, but I still have 8 minutes in mine. Hope it was a good day.

Mauigirl,

I gave you an award!

The fact that Palin would personally put up a $150 bounty for a wolf's front paw... makes..me..sick.. And I think its an insult to Pitbull's that she compares herself to one. This video is so disturbing, but not as disturbing as the idea as her becoming president.
