Addicted

Apparently it has happened. I am a blog addict. We arrived here in Boston for the next two nights and the first thing I did when we entered our room was to whip out the laptop and try to hook up to the Internet.

Well, it was complicated. Something with an ethernet cable that's supposed to plug into the phone and who knows what. And it didn't work. So I actually read the instructions and started over again. Still no connection. So I tried wireless. Plenty of networks in range, but couldn't get in.

So I gave in and called the 800 number the hotel provided and after walking me through a number of things the nice man who was helping me decided the connection in the room is faulty. I could feel the panic welling up inside me. "But I have to BLOG tonight!" And then he said the most beautiful words: "Don't worry, you can access free wireless internet in the main lobby."

So here I am sitting in the main lobby in front of a nice gas fireplace blogging away.

But what does this say about my mental state? All I could think was "But it's NaBloPoMo! I MUST BLOG TONIGHT!" Here I am in Boston, steps from the Faneuil Hall area and all the bars and restaurants, and the only thing I'm concerned about is blogging!

I think it's time I participated in my life. So I'm going to end this quickly with a haiku and get on out there to The Black Rose!

Today's Haiku:

Arrived in Boston
Ethernet isn't working
How can I get on?

Oh, I can so relate. I was in a weekend workshop lately--no internet available. It was like jonesing from heroin. Keep up the good work, mauigirl.

It's a different world we live in. My laptop goes in the suitcase first thing, and I fret and check three times did I pack the RJ45.:)

Too many addictions........

I will go to rehab when I start looking into ways to blog while running.

I can blackberry to blog via an email post, but I still haven't mastered using the thumbboard while running, I have to stop and walk while thumbing.

If I find a way to do that, I'm going to step on a cat or put a dent in a car, so it'll be time to give up on one or the other. Lucky for me, I still find it impossible.

Welcome to our world. Get used to it, it doesn't go away easily.

LOL, it's even worse now that we've got the in-room internet working. It works sporadically so it is quite frustrating! But I don't give it up! ;-)

As a fellow celebrant of NaBloPoMo, I feel the need to point out that there's a difference between being addicted and feeling the need to fulfill the daily posting agreement. And last evening's problems with Blogger/Google likely had lots of us feeling nervous.

That's not to say that you aren't addicted, though... have you taken this test?

:)

Phydeaux, you mean it wasn't all the bad internet connection at the hotel? That may explain a lot!

Very true, this month we had more reasons to be blogging on a daily basis. Thank you for that excuse!

Oh, and I did the quiz - the answer is I am 74% addicted to blogging. Not as bad as I expected!
