Haikus for the Holidays

Thanks to FranIAm for reminding me of my haiku tradition started in November. Since this weekend is very busy, this is an ideal time to revive the art of the haiku for today's blog post!

So here goes:

Fifty Christmas cards
Ready to put in the mail
But they have no stamps.

No Christmas tree up
Just three days before Christmas
How late is too late?

Back in the old days
How did I ever find time
To shop at real stores?

When shopping on-line
I can get everything done
Sitting at a desk.

Gift cards are easy
I bought some at Stop 'n Shop
Starbucks and Visa.

There's lots left to do
The weekend's not over yet
There's time to buy more.

What about dinner?
We're not cooking, thank goodness
We're going to friends.

To be continued....

  2. Good haiku, Nick! And thanks for turning me on to Mad Haiku, I hadn't been there before!

The Jack Bauer one was good!

  3. Haiku is so good
It makes me waste lots of time
    And not wrap my gifts

    Wrapping gifts is hard
I do not like to wrap them
    Unwrapping is good

    Your blog is a gift
    Mauigirl is the reason
    For the blog season

    Now I must shut up
Lest I be thrown off this blog
    I like it too much!

  5. Mauigirl blushes
Her cheeks flush pink and so bright
    She is so humble

    Yet her blog is great
    So many people come here
    To read her good words

    Funny posts some days
    Serious posts other days
    Good posts every time

(It is like an addiction- this haiku! That and I do love this blog. So many good, no great ones- but yours is a particular treasure to me!)
