Thy are ...I fully agree not to blame the soldiers. Thy are as much the victims of Bush's war for oil and conquest as the Iraqi people. A more fitting comparison might be, if the ballooning friends who landed in the farmer's field had been Germans.TomCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11397335545286040472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34240686.post-20720080129351267812007-08-28T10:46:00.000-04:002007-08-28T10:46:00.000-04:00Thanks, Larry, Punditmom and Patricia -I can't ima...Thanks, Larry, Punditmom and Patricia -
I can't imagine we will be remembered by the Iraqis with anywhere near the fondness that the French or even more so, the English, have for us. I remember once being in England in the 1960's with my parents and we were in a pub one night and a man about my dad's age came over and thanked us for our (America's) help during the war. I don't think that will happen anytime soon in Iraq.Mauigirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15529827915262851910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34240686.post-34207126608990319722007-08-28T09:40:00.000-04:002007-08-28T09:40:00.000-04:00Such an excellent post!If the Iraqis are aware of ...Such an excellent post!

If the Iraqis are aware of what hasn't been done in this country since Katrina blew through, I doubt they hold out much hope for our getting their country rebuilt.

I don't know how they will look at us in the future, but I'm afraid it won't be good. We have blown up their country, dropped bombs on them and killed members of their family. It will be a long long time before and if that can be forgotten.pissed off patriciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08854364015577541981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34240686.post-70616424723015027512007-08-28T00:22:00.000-04:002007-08-28T00:22:00.000-04:00Although we don't blame the U.S soldiers, it is io...Although we don't blame the U.S soldiers, it is io doubt that for decades to come, Iraqi's will always remember how America destroyed their lives and their country, for oil.Larryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05283557503536810926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34240686.post-8784399476170259522007-08-27T23:48:00.000-04:002007-08-27T23:48:00.000-04:00This is a great post. And of course I mean no disrespect to our soldiers - they are just doing what they have signed on to do, supporting their country and doing their job. It's those who send them that are at fault. And you are totally right about the real reasons we're there.Mauigirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15529827915262851910noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34240686.post-85269962877664794392007-08-27T16:40:00.000-04:002007-08-27T16:40:00.000-04:00I don't blame the American soldiers, but our polic...I don't blame the American soldiers, but our policies in the Middle East will curry hatred for years to come. They don't want us there, and if it wasn't for oil, we wouldn't be there.
