Haiku Thursday

I have some serious blogging I need to do - Spartacus has tagged me for the political meme - which I'm really looking forward to having the time and energy to do - and Christopher very kindly honored me with an award a few days ago, which I want to pass on to worthy bloggers.

But I've had a hectic week; lots going on at work, and for the first three nights of the week I've been out every night at meetings (non-work). So the energy level just isn't there tonight, especially after watching three straight hours of political commentary (Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert).

So, like John McCain, I'm going to wimp out. I'm going to write a few haiku and go to bed! Tomorrow, as Scarlet O'Hara liked to say, is another day.

McCain's on the run
And suspending his campaign
Flying to D.C.

Skipping the debate
Is the prudent thing to do
He knows he can't win.

On the other hand
Obama is looking good
He can do it all.

Fly down to D.C.
And negotiate a deal
Fly back and debate

He's the younger one
He knows how to multi-task
McCain's just too old.

And in the meantime
Negotiations drag on
No deal has been reached.

The stock market tanks
The Feds take over WaMu
The dominoes fall.

    America the two faced
    Shame and faith combined

  4. Damn girl, look you multi-tasking! I wouldn't call this blogpost "wimping out" at all. Nicely done!

  5. Great haiku. I'm looking forward to seeing your answers to the political meme. (I assume it's the same one that's been circulating.)

  6. FYI, the political meme was originated by Katie Schwartz! I was tagged by Monkey Muck. It's cool to see it making such big rounds!

    Great Haikus all!

  7. McCain will debate after all. One would think foreign policy would favor the Arizona Senator, but we shall see.

  8. Yay, great haiku. I think today is going to be great fun. And my sympathies, I think blogging is a full time job, and one I would like payment for. LOL. I keep threatening to put on one of those donate thingies....lol.

  9. McCandy puts on her makeup
    Layer upon layer over skin
    A glance in the mirror
    Moves face closer
A zit, a pimple, big pours
Oh hell, put on another layer!

  10. Haiku heaven.
    McCain tight-jawed and hard
    Obama takes home prize.

  11. Oh, what wonderful haiku from you all!

Faded, that's a great haiku, "America the two-faced" - so true - and "hollow pride" and "shame and faith" - great stuff!

D.K., love "it died and went to Morgan" - but so sorry it was your bank. Hopefully you won't lose any money.

Ah, Randal, excellent! And you got POW into it, too - very good!

Thanks, Candace, political haiku is my fallback! ;-) It is fun to do.

Ruth, yes, it is the same one - and I think everybody has already had it so I don't think I'll be tagging anyone!

Hi Helen, yes, I think I knew Katie started it - I've seen it all over!

Kevin, now the debate is over - I think Obama did well on the foreign policy and most of the reviews I've seen have been positive, so that is good news.

Feather, I wish one could make a living blogging but unless my traffic gets as high as the Daily Kos (not bloody likely, LOL!) I think I'll have to keep my day job!

Christopher, great poetry! ;-) So true.

Maria, you got that right! I think McCain looked cranky for sure last night every time Obama said something. Or he grinned that creepy grin. (Nice haiku!)

  13. Love the haiku.

I hope there is no deal on a bailout for rich brokers and bankers. They should be bailing out homeowners.
